9/28/08 Hey there.... I know. It's been a while since I've updated the site. Just because there were no updates doesn't mean nothing was happening.
So, to quickly bring you up to speed... I've moved on from Fully Loaded and joined Shooting Blanks (get the connection? Thanx Bob for pointing that out). Whiskey Sweet is on hiatus until 2009 and I just last night played a fill-in gig with my good friends from Fistacuffs. Yet again, I find myself going under the blade to repair damage to my knee. That will happen in October and I will rejoin Shooting Blanks sometime in November.
5/7/08 I'm happy to tell you that I've recorded some material for my friend and former band mate, George Becker, of If 6 Was 9. The material is for demo purposes, but I will have the music up on the www.davebandinelli.com site as soon as I can get my hands on it. While laying down the guitar tracks the other night, the sound was pretty impressive. I can't wait to hear the final product.
1/13/08 It is with deep
sorrow that I announce that Jack Reustle, Drummer for
Jack had been playing and writing songs for many years with other bands. He had
done a few local recording projects in his career as a musician as well. Jack
later formed his own band called “The Recruits” back in the early 90’s. Band
members had changed and by 1997 and the sound of the Recruits was becoming
defined. guitar, Michael Evans on bass and backing vocals and Jack on drums and also doing backing vocals. They started billing themselves under the new name. One of their songs titled "When The Weekend Comes” was sent to New York’s WPLJ by bass guitarist Michael Evans and was later aired on “WPLJ’s Scott and Todd Morning Show.” Jack Ruestle 2/3/59 - 1/11/08
During the spring and summer of 1998, Jack got the band in “Big Blue Meenie
Studios” recording their first CD for “Black Pumpkin Distro” titled “Power’s
On”. The songs from the “Pearl Studio” sessions were re-recorded along with
eight new tunes the boys had written. With new music and tighter new sounds, the
band felt that they needed a more defined name. The name “Chipper Dove” was
introduced by Fred Lock. He had gotten the name from John Irving’s novel “Hotel
New Hampshire”.
Jack, you will be missed. See you on the other side, my friend.
11/26/07 Got word of Kevin Dubrow's (Quiet Riot fame) passing yesterday, in his Las Vegas home. The world has lost a great entertainer. RIP
11/15/07 Well, looks like I'm going to finish the year out with a rock and roll bang. I'll be playing with both Fully Loaded and Whiskey Sweet non-stop between 11/16/07 and New Year's Eve. Looking forward to a lot of good shows as well as the true debut of Whiskey Sweet at Backstreets, in North Arlington on 11/30. In addition to that, looks like I'll be hosting a weekly open mic night. Details to follow shortly.
8/6/07 I finally have some dates to tell you about (below). Please check out the Dates section of my site for additional dates. The next week is going to be rollercoaster right of gigs and emotions, as I begin working with my new band, Fully Loaded and I close out my Modern 8-Track tenure with a killer gig at the Colt's Neck County Fair, in of course, Colt's Neck, NJ. Finally, I finish the week with a return visit to Hartley's in North Arlington, NJ. Been a few years, but I'll bet it hasn't changed much.
Fully Loaded - 8/11/07 Cosmo's, Harrison, NJ Modern 8-Track - 8/16/07 The Colt's Neck County Fair, Colt's Neck, NJ 9:00pm to 11:00pm Fully Loaded - 8/18/07 Hartley's, North Arlington, NJ
Also, I want to give you more information on my acoustic band, Whiskey Sweet. This is a duet, with my good friend and talented vocalist, Sue Toth. Sue will be belting out the hits, as I play acoustic guitar. Yep, its a bit of a change, but change is good, right? So check out the site, even though I haven't had enough time to finish it yet. I anticipate that there will be Whiskey Sweet gigs to tell you about in the very near future. Stay tuned....
7/30/07 Well, here it comes again.... I've just hooked up with a new band called Fully Loaded. Good band and a good bunch of people, if I do say so myself. Yes, that's right, unfortunately, I will be parting ways with my Modern 8Track family. I love you guys so much. Best of continued luck to you.
6/11/07 Amateur video of Modern 8 Track from the now defunct Rail on Main Street. Two links currently exist. I wonder if there are more. Have a Nice Day and Long train Running. Enjoy.
6/9/07 Well, tonight's gig at The Rail on Man Street was cancelled tonight. Seems that the placed closed down last week. It was the gig that almost was... There are more details in the "Tales From The Road Page".
4/3/07 It's time again to get ready for some serious rock and roll, with my new band, Modern 8-Track. Just a quick refresher.... M8T plays the best of classic and modern party rock and roll. For more info on the band, go to our web site at www.modern8track.com.
Modern 8-Track will make it's debut with
me in the band, Friday night, April 6th at:
The Rail on Main Street
350 East Main Street
Bound Brook, NJ.
(732) 469-6590
The Rail is a familiar place for me, as I've played this venue many times. I love to play there... so it's sort of like coming home again. If you've been there before, you know what a cool place it is. If you've never been there, make Friday night the night to broaden your horizons. My last band, If 6 Was 9 had a good run. Hopefully, Modern 8-Track will have an even better run.
3/28/07 I am proud to say that I am working on a new, acoustic duet project. All the details are not in place yet, so once the project fully comes together, I will give you all the details and dates.
11/21/06 If 6 Was 9 has canceled their performance at The cup on Wednesday, 11/22/06 due to illness. The show will go on with the remaining bands performing and filling in the time that I6W9 should have been playing.
Saturday night's gig at The Duggout in Staten Island is still "on" and a decision will be made by Friday to cancel the gig, if necessary.
11/8/06 Dave has just agreed to perform two fill-in gigs with If 6 Was 9. You remember that band, right? Of course you do..... So really, no kidding, here's your absolute last chance to catch Dave performing with If 6 Was 9.
Here are the dates Dave will be performing with If 6 Was 9:
If 6 Was 9 - 11/22/06 The Cup, Linden, NJ If 6 Was 9 - 11/25/06 The Duggout, Staten Island, NY
10/30/06 Hey gang. Dave here, telling you about my latest project. I've hooked up with a band called Modern 8-Track. Modern 8-Track is comprised of club-circuit veterans who have "been around the block" a number of times.... I feel honored to be involved with this band. My expectations are very high that something good will result from this project. As soon as I know of any live dates, I will pass them on to you.
As always, thanks for your support and keep on rockin'....
10/15/06 Well friends, the time has come for me to move on.... Yep, that's right. I'll be leaving the If 6 Was 9 camp for new and different endeavors. Its been a great run. I wish the band continued success. I have two final shows that I'll be performing with If 6 Was 9. They are:
If 6 Was 9 - 10/20/06 Errico's, Frenchtown, NJ If 6 Was 9 - 10/21/06 Danny Boy's, Staten Island, NY
Unfortunately, the gig at Errico's on the 20th is a private party, which means YOU can't go to it. So, if you want to get your last bit of "Dave Rock and Roll" for awhile, you need to be at Danny Boy's in Staten Island on Saturday, Oct 21, 2006.
Come on out and have a drink with me. It should be a really cool party....
7/9/06 Additional If 6 Was 9 dates added for August.
If 6 Was 9 - 8/10/06 Rhythms of the Night, Manville, NJ 9:00pm Show Time If 6 Was 9 - 8/26/06 Cafferty's Tavern, Forked River, NJ
7/4/06 The legendary Bayonne rock club, The Arena, has closed it's doors. That was a great place to perform and it will be sadly missed. RIP
2/8/06 I have some exciting news to tell you about..... well, OK, its exciting for me, anyway.
Earlier today, I was accepted into the George Lynch Guitar Dojo Workshop. Yes, THAT George Lynch. What? You don't know who George Lynch is? George was the original guitarist for the rock group Dokken, then went out on his own with his band, Lynch Mob. He currently records and tours globally, under both, Lynch Mob and George Lynch. George is considered one of the most influential guitar players of our time. His insight and vision is like no other. George is truly a Guitar God
The Dojo Workshop begins on June 1 2006, however, I have homework (believe it or not) that I have to work on before the semester even begins. I am very excited to be involved in this new and exciting use of technology. Hey, if I can learn to play as half as good as George plays, then it was well worth the time and effort.
12/8/05 OK everyone. The time is upon us. If 6 Was 9 is ready to hit the road. Saturday, December 10th is the start of all this mayhem. Don't miss this this show! Additionally, we have more dates in December. If you can't make it to The SpeakEasy on Saturday, December 10, well, we have a bunch of other December shows that you should get to. 9/21/05 Out of the ashes of Volume 11 comes Dave's new band, If 6 Was 9. I6W9 includes Volume 11 veterans George Becker on vocals and Paul Cunningham on bass, but make no mistake about it, I6W9 is anything but Volume 11, regrouped. I6W9 has a dynamite new stage show and a number of rock and roll surprises. "Freak Show" sort of comes to mind, but we'll let you make your own conclusions.
I6W9 will be hitting the road starting in October. Check Upcoming Shows for specific dates.

11/3/04 Well, this announcement has been kept secret long enough. Yes, its true.... Dave has joined the Detroit rock band Bullcock. That's right, Bullcock. Dave has been working with the band for the last six weeks or so and we couldn't keep it a secret any longer. Its such a secret that Bullcock hasn't even made any comment on their site about it yet. Dave had been working with the band Hard Luck for the past 5 months or so. Unfortunately, things weren't happening and the Bullcock thing just happened to come Dave's way. When Dave first met the band, they spent the night in Uncle Charlie's, USA strip club. Clearly, everyone was on the same page. Bullcock was formed in 2002 in Detroit. Chopper and Ross (the band's founders) eventually moved to the New York area. Now Bullcock is on the rise in the New York Metro area. Look out for Bullcock. To get more information on Bullcock, please visit their web site at www.bullcockband.com
10/10/04 Dave has been asked to fill in on the bass for Poppa Jimmy and the Mustang Gang for their gig at the Teaneck Street Fair on Sunday, 10/17/04. Seems that the regular bass player thought the gig was cancelled and therefore made plans to get away for awhile. His vacation ends 11 minutes after Jimmy and the gang hit the stage. Show time is 4:00pm sharp. Be there.....
6/29/04 Dave joins (re-joins) Hard Luck. Yep, Dave was a member of Hard Luck for about two weeks, back in February, 2004. The rest of the winter, Dave was busy with other projects. On June 29, 2004, Dave was asked to join Hard Luck again. This time around, Dave is focusing solely on Hard Luck. For more information on the band, please visit their web site at www.hardluckrocks.com.
4/15/04 On Thursday, 4/15/04, Dave finally went under the knife to repair damage to his knee, which was injured during a Smokin' Rose gig, at The Arena in Bayonne, NJ on 11/21/03. The surgery was a success and Dave is recovering comfortably at home.
2/12/04 Dave Bandinelli promises new project will kick ass! There is life after Smokin' Rose. Dave is working in a new project but is currently tight-lipped about any details.
All we can really tell you at this point is that it looks like the new band will be a rocking cover and original package.
More news as we find out....
1/17/04 Smokin' Rose has announced that the band will be parting ways. Recent squabblings and personnel changes helped fuel the split.
11/21/03 Smokin' Rose was rocking The Arena, in Bayonne, NJ when, at the end of the first set, lead guitarist Dave Bandinelli injured his left knee. Dave played the second set while sitting in a chair; still in pain. After the second set, the band decided the best decision was to end the night early and send Dave to the ER. After x-rays and MRI's, it was diagnosed as a torn meniscus in his left knee.
2/4/03 The events of September 11, 2001 are a terrible tragedy that will never be forgotten. In the aftermath of 9/11, there have been many candlelight vigils, prayer services, the tolling of church bells, the dedication of monuments, speeches and plenty of suffering. While I am angered and outraged by what has happened, my intention for this page is to acknowledge all the men and women who volunteered their time and put their own lives in danger to help save and recover others. I also want to convey my deepest sympathies for any and every family who lost a loved one on this terrible day. I have something to say to the bastards who did this, but I am going to save that for another day. The song "Sleep With God" is my tribute to those who volunteered and those who lost their lives. Click here to listen to Sleep With God.
7/29/02 Chipper Dove rocked Jersey City, NJ,
last night at the St. Ann's Street Fair with a hot set of classic Dove tunes.
The band was joined on stage by honorary Dove member, Mike Evans. Mike came up
from Virginia for the show and played the whole set with the Dove and performed
an acoustic tune, Totally Lose Control. The Dove opened with the powerful Power's On then immediately ran into Rock and Roll Star. The Dove slowed things down a bit before breaking for Mike's acoustic spot. The band closed the set by banging out three rockers, When the Weekend Comes, Come On and Try To See. During the set, there was a big "to-do" about the excessive volume the Dove was putting out. Rene responded to the comments in typical rock and roll fashion: "If its too loud, then go home". Also, there was an attempt by Bob, from the St. Ann's committee to cut the Dove set short by 15 minutes. One spectator replied with the following: "The only show stopper would be to set Bob's (straw) hat on fire." Well, it was another typical Chipper Dove adventure. Mayhem and madness and lots of volume. Definitely a set worth seeing and hearing.
6/12/02 The long awaited, much delayed Leatherfish CD release is still held up in legal red tape. There are a few issues which still need to be resolved before the CD can be released. At this time, we are expecting the legal mess to be resolved by mid August. Once resolved, we expect the CD to be released within a matter of a few weeks. The CD, which is tentatively titled "So This Is Valhalla?" contains 11 original tracks which were recorded at Dave's studios. The music ranges from heavy to melodic, commercial to moody. All the music contains energy and feels and sounds alive. We will keep you updated on this topic.
5/7/02 Chipper Dove is planning to release an EP consisting of several new songs. No dates have been identified nor has a studio been decided upon yet. Details are sketchy right now, but as more information becomes available, we will make it available here. 5/5/02 Chipper Dove has begun rehearsing at Pearl Studios in Jersey City. The band plans to put together a couple of sets worth of music, which would include a combination of existing Dove tunes, such as When The Weekend Comes and She Wants All Of My Money, some Leatherfish material (to be determined) as well as some new material, which the band has already begun to work on. Chipper Dove is looking forward to hitting the road and rockin' on. There are a number of negotiations currently underway, as the Dove plan to work as often as possible. Stay tuned for more....! 4/21/02 For the last few months, Dave has been talking to the band, Chipper Dove, about joining forces. Now its official. Dave's in. Chipper Dove is a four piece rock band who is currently regrouping and looking forward to putting out some new music and hitting the stage. Chipper Dove has a CD release called Power's On which can be purchased on-line or in retail stores in New York, New Jersey and Virginia. To find a local store near you who carries Power's On, click this link. To buy Power's On on-line or to listen to some Chipper Dove music, click this link. Stay tuned for more! 9/25/01 Dave has hooked up with the band Fillher, from Union, NJ. Fillher is a 3-piece original band which plays a unique brand of music. Fillher is a cross between rock, punk and progressive. | |||||||||||||||||||
